The ASM Global Legal Department consists of 12 legal professionals and is focused on advising the organization in commercial and regulatory matters that impact the business and business operations. The team is forward looking and able to understand the pivotal changing market. As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel
Position: This role is in Almere at the headquarters of ASM. The role of the senior legal counsel is an important one in ASM’s fast paced, rapidly growing, profitable and exciting business environment. The role is in the Corporate Legal Department in Almere, The Netherlands and is a commercial lawyer role which includes providing commercial support to the business (sales contracts, supplier contracts, general conditions, etc.) in combination with a role in privacy law.
The responsibilities in this role mean that you will be a trusted advisor to the European Sales group, European R&D groups, Procurement, and our affiliates in Europe. Another part of the responsibilities will be relating to privacy law on a European and global scale.
The day-to-day responsibilities will include: Advising ASM’s affiliates in Europe with its activities in technology development, sales and service, privacy, negotiating a suite of different contracts like R&D, funded research, sales, service, procurement and lease agreements, and providing training. In this highly technological environment experience in IP-related contracts is a plus.
You will be part of the worldwide Corporate Legal team and will interact with many internal stakeholders. In addition, you will engage with external counsel.
What sets you apart: Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Dutch law. Candidates with French, German, or English law Master’s qualifications are also encouraged to apply. This role requires a track record in a commercial lawyer role and privacy, either from a top-tier law firm or from experience as legal counsel, preferably in a multinational company. With your 8+ years of working experience, you have gained familiarity with complex legal and privacy matters. You can translate these into pragmatic advice in a multicultural, highly technical, growing, dynamic, and demanding business environment.
To be successful in this role you will need to bring a strong personality and the capacity to work with many internal and external stakeholders. It goes without saying that you have a strongly developed business sense and the ability to support business objectives and can deal with a high workload without compromising on high quality legal analysis, advise and documentation.
You are a proactive person with the aim to improve processes continuously. Furthermore, you can build relationships and networks which are key in achieving goals and make effective use of (in)formal networks to get things done. You have excellent communication and influencing skills; fluency in (written and spoken) English is a must.
