ASM Trade Classification Analyst (1 year contract)

 

This role will give you the opportunity to be part of the ASM Global Trade Compliance team, that has the responsibility to ensure that ASM global businesses are conducted in compliance with the various international export control laws and regulations, sanctions and customs regulations. As part of our global team, you will be responsible to ensure that ASM products, software, and technology are correctly classified with respect to government export control (dual-use lists) customs (Harmonized System) lists. Our growing Trade Compliance team spans across three regions and falls under the legal department.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct classification of purchased third-party products, software, and raw material;
  • Assign Commodity Codes/Harmonize Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers on a global level to items manufactured and/or purchased by ASM, in accordance with the provisions outlined in the General Rules of Interpretation, Section and Chapter notes;
  • Assign Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) to items manufactured and/or purchased and exported by ASM to identify potential dual-use items and determine all applicable export licensing requirements for such items;
  • Review, analyze and act on order blocks in SAP GTS system;
  • Participate in tests and implement changes in the SAP GTS system when required.
  • Perform regular assessment and review on the products master database ECCN/HTS classification accuracy and correctness.
  • Applications for Customs rulings request, as deemed necessary; document classification rationale for audit purposes
  • Perform audit of import and export files; identify gaps in compliance and initiate process improvements to address the identified gaps in compliance and successfully close the identified gaps;
  • Support Trade Compliance team in creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), desktop procedures and work instructions;

 

Education and Experience

  • A university education in an Engineering-related field with at least 5 years’ experience in classification for the US, EU & Japan, ideally in the semiconductor industry
  • You have in-depth knowledge on “Specially Designed” analysis, preferably on semiconductor equipment assemblies.
  • Experience with customs rules and export control regulations. knowing the Commerce Control List
  • Experience related to assigning the ECCN/HTS determination and supporting export control licensing requests
  • Strong working knowledge of US import/export regulations
  • Knowledge of Customs valuation and Country of Origin (COO) determination requirements is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate in execution
  • Abillity to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative, international team.
