Job's mission: Drive innovation in thin film technology
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Process Engineer to join our Corporate Research & Development Team in Leuven, Belgium. In this role, you will innovate and develop groundbreaking atomic layer deposition (ALD) processes and applications that contribute to the advancement of logic and memory devices. From designing experiments to collaborating with global R&D teams, your efforts will create value for customers and shape the future of semiconductor technology.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about technical excellence, teamwork, and making a tangible impact through innovation.
What you will be working on:
- Innovate and develop new thin film processes and applications for logic and memory devices.
- Design and conduct experiments, analyze complex data sets, and drive actionable conclusions.
- Work hands-on with advanced semiconductor process equipment to optimize processes and enhance hardware efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external R&D teams to define requirements and ensure project success.
- Support successful product transfers to customers by performing demonstrations, sharing knowledge, and traveling to ASM sites as needed.
What we are looking for:
- A PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science, preferably with a semiconductor-related thesis.
- Alternatively, an MSc in a relevant field with significant industry experience in semiconductor or material research.
- In-depth knowledge of ALD applications in logic or memory devices.
- Prior experience with thin film deposition techniques (e.g., ALD, CVD) and characterization methods (e.g., XPS, AFM, XRD, XRF, electrical characterization, and ellipsometry).
- Solid understanding of semiconductor physics, process integration, and processing equipment technology.
- A curious and adaptable mindset with a track record of navigating complex problems and delivering pragmatic solutions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to plan and execute projects effectively.
